Wilsonville had no interstate highways or airports in 1910.
However, people still got around Wilsonville and to nearby communities by
car, motorcycle, train, ferry, on foot or by steamboat.
While there were many roads leading out of Wilsonville,
the Boones Ferry Road and Boones Ferry formed the most used travel route
north and south since the road was fairly straight and level for work animals
used to move cargo and people. Travel east and west was most performed by
boats that plied up and down the Willamette River. Other ferries also operated
on the River.
The River was also a primary source of entertainment, recreation
and personal news.
